Journal Entry #5 Hard News vs. Soft News

Soft News
This article on CBC about Justin Timberlake Invited Back to the Super Bowl Halftime Show, is soft soft news because it is not that interesting and/or important to the outside world. On this article there is a photo that is included in this article also. The article states that Justin Timberlake has been invited back to the Halftime Show after a wardrobe malfunction 14 years ago. I would say that this is human-interest. This story has some hard news characteristics but more soft in my opinion, it presents just the basic information. The story quotes Justin Timberlake in many ways by telling what he thought about the situation, he claims that the malfunction will not happen again. This article did not go in depth, it just gave basic information about what the story is based on, this is an example of soft news because the topics are softly touched on and there is nothing that really stands out.

Hard News
This article on Huffington Post is about Stranger Things actor, Finn Wolfhard who claims to be sexually assaulted by his agent Tyler Grasham. There were several stories that Grasham has did this before to other little boys he worked with, a source stated that "Tyler Grasham, however, is most definitely fired."  I believe this is hard news because it is stating that there is an agency out there that has a man who sexually assaulted not only one little boy, but several in his career. This articles has characteristics of hard news because it is telling us something important. I believe that this is a great story but I feel bad for the people it happened to. Grasham not only did this to one person, he ruined several peoples lives by doing such a thing. This story has provided a great deal of information and will inform anyone who reads it.

Blurred News
This article on People is about a mother dying just 2 days after the death of her son and daughter-in-law. The shooting took place in Las Vagas. The mother died just a short 2 days after the death of her son, who was attending a concert. This is considered blurred news because the shooting was a huge crisis but not everyone knew the mother of this off duty officer. This is a tragedy but not everyone knew this women. This gave a good amount of information but not that much, like I said, not everyone knew her.
